- Beard Papa Tea X 87 Bunny (87小兔)

If you’re a creator hoping to gain widespread exposure through brand collaborations, make sure your intellectual property rights are fully secured before launching any joint projects.
The most fundamental intellectual property rights governed by the Intellectual Property Office are:
- Trademark Rights
- Copyrights
Among these, copyright is based on the principle of automatic protection upon creation. As long as the creative process is well-documented, it can serve as evidence in future legal disputes.
Trademark rights, however, require formal registration with the Intellectual Property Office to be protected.
This applies regardless of whether you're protecting a graphic, text, or a combined mark (text + graphic).
Trademark applications are charged by class, where each class represents a specific category of goods or services.
For creators or those in cultural and creative industries, I’ve prepared a suggested list of categories for simple trademark protection:
It includes two core classes, five important classes, and five related classes.
If you're interested, feel free to message us and we’ll send it to you.
Here are some types of text trademarks that should be registered:
- The name of a mascot or character, e.g., Gudetama
- The name of a creative series, e.g., The Rebellion of Elementary Textbooks
- The pen name or stage name of the author, e.g., Jimmy Liao
- Names of character friends, enemies, weapons, or fictional locations, such as The Mirror of Erised or Gotham City from Harry Potter and Batman
- The name of your studio, e.g., D.C. Comics
In the next post, we’ll talk briefly about key points to note when it comes to brand licensing.
